Woman with brown hair wearing a gray sweater, smiling thoughtfully with her finger on her chin, against a plain background.

This blog offers a glimpse into my evidence-based approach to leadership and negotiation. I root my insights in psychology, behavioral science, and real-world application. Each post reflects my belief that knowledge, when grounded in research and translated into practice, is not only powerful but transformative.

These reflections draw from both academic rigour and lived experience, offering thoughtful perspectives and practical strategies to help you gain clarity, elevate your impact, and build deeper, more meaningful relationships.

Thank you for being here on this journey toward becoming more informed, empowered, and socially attuned.

Enjoy,
Tatiana

Communication Tools: Using "I- Statements" When Making Requests in Relationships

People are going to annoy you, disappoint you, and fall short. They won’t mean to, but they will. In these moments, you could stay silent and let resentment build (a lovely way to slowly deteriorate a relationship and frustrate yourself) or you could try to speak up and make a request. The issue with speaking up is that while you may have the best intentions if you communicate in a defensive non-effective manner, you will escalate a misunderstanding, hurt the people that you care about, and slowly degrade the quality of your relationships.

What does it actually take to lead people well?

This news letter is for leaders who want substance, not another list of tips. Dr. Tatiana Astray will share her own leadership practice here: the frameworks she actually use, the questions worth sitting with, and what she and MLX are learning along the way.

Twice a month, you will hear from me: the Letter at the start of the month, and the Takeaway after the live session.

  • The Letter, at the start of the month. One idea about how leaders build trust, hold hard conversations, and negotiate without losing themselves. Short, practical, and written to use the same week. It comes with an invitation to that month's Thoughtful Hour.

  • The Thoughtful Hour. Once a month we meet live for an hour. Dr. Tatiana Astray will share one framework, and we work through real situations people bring. Kept small so it stays a conversation.

  • The Takeaway, after the session. What came out of the Hour, names removed, along with the tips worth keeping.

  • First access to open enrolment programs. When something opens to the public, you hear about it first.

The Thoughtful Hour is drop-in. Come when the topic is useful, listen, or bring your own situation. No pressure, and no need to make every one.
